Big Jim Red Pepper

The Big Jim Red Pepper is a slightly spicy red pepper although it is usually picked when it is still green, I had the opportunity to eat it and it is really tasty, the fact that it is relatively spicy is misleading because if you eat a pan of it, like I did, the spiciness makes itself felt.

Big Jim is a hybrid between a New Mexico pepper and a Peruvian pepper, it was developed in 1975 at New Mexico State University by Dr. Nakayama in collaboration with Jim Lytle, the person from whom it later took its name. The fruits are very long and large, often exceeding 30 cm, in fact they hold the Guinness World Records record as the largest chilli pepper in the world. It is particularly used in Tex Mex cuisine and in that of the state in which it was born, namely New Mexico, where they are cooked by picking them when they are still green and roasting them on the grill or in a pan, creating a very popular side dish or finger food.

Peppers are mild when still green, but become spicier when they turn red. The spiciness is low but variable, in the sense that one pepper, for no apparent reason, could be spicier than another and still varies from 500 Shu to 3,000 Shu.

This is a real delicacy, each sachet contains 10 Seeds which will allow you to obtain a huge harvest.
