Grow Lamp choosing Guide for Indoor Chili Growing

Perhaps the most debated topic is the Grow Lamps to use to grow chillies. First of all, do I really need a lamp? Are there special lamps or can I use any one?

As I see it, there is really a need only if you sow in January and February, while natural sunlight can be used as early as March. Obviously you cannot use the light bulb in the office, kitchen or garage, specific lamps are needed for the growth of the plant, but let's look closely at the various possibilities.

I give you 03 SOLUTIONS:

01) FREE SOLUTION: Place the seedlings next to a south-facing window so that they enjoy the light and sun through the glass until they can be placed outdoors. They can be placed outdoors from morning to evening starting from late March, the classic is to put them out in the light/sun in the morning when you leave the house and put them away from the cold of the night in the evening when you return, you can always leave them outside to starting from May / June. It goes without saying that this "outside/inside" operation involves a little more banging. What you see in the following photo is the ideal situation for not needing a Grow Lamp:

02) 6,500 K COLD LIGHT LED BULB SOLUTION: if you have 20 or 30 seedlings this is the best solution which obviously has pros and cons which we will examine.

The plus points are: the low cost of around 5 or 6 € per bulb and the almost zero energy consumption which will add 2 or 3 € per month to the bill.

The unfavorable points are: the bulbs will have to be supported by a lamp holder which will have a cost, or you will have to make yourself, which is definitely fun, a panel by connecting wires and bulbs, furthermore these cold light lamps tend to heat up, this for some can be a problem advantage, if the grow box is too cold, while for others it could be a disadvantage, you will certainly have to calculate the distance well so that the leaves do not burn, which could be lethal in the initial part of the chilli pepper's life.

Having said that, the MANDATORY characteristics that these bulbs must have are:

- 6,500 k cold light LEDs

- As many lumens as possible, in this case from 1,000 lumens per bulb

- Use one bulb every 10 - 12 seedlings

You can find them easily in Chinese shops and you will have to look at the features on the packaging to find the right ones, usually at a cost of € 5-6 each, I recommend these which have a good value for money of around € 3-4 per bulb: Cold Light Bulbs 6,500k / Indoor Chili Pepper Cultivation which are exactly the ones in the photo below.

03) PROFESSIONAL GROW LAMP SOLUTION: You have a nice Grow Box of at least one cubic meter and you have many seedlings, even more than 100, what to do? Well I suggest the lamp I have:

- Professional Grow Lamp / Chili Pepper Cultivation / 1,000 Watt the most powerful and cool lamp with the best quality/price ratio there is, that is approximately €70 - 80 to cover a surface of approximately 1.5 / 2 square meters, at a height of 60 / 80 centimetres. This guys is a bomb and works perfectly, it provides light for 1,200 Watts but only consumes 220, it will affect the bill by around €30-40 more per month, but consider that you will keep it on for 2 or 3 months at most. I suggest 16-20 hours of light and 4-8 hours of dark. This lamp is a step forward compared to the others because as you can see from the photos it is very thin and does not emit any noise as it has no cooling fans, really interesting. The following is a photo of one of my grow boxes with exactly this Grow Lamp, the one after that explains how to use it to grow plants and possibly make them bear fruit.

Take into consideration this Concentrate of Hydroponic Genius, truly an absolute blast, it is a complete kit, a Smart Garden, where you can place some plants, with an LED light and a convenient timer, I suggest 16 hours of light and 8 of darkness , with which it is possible to grow in hydroponics, i.e. with the use of water and liquids instead of soil, the cultivation of aromatic herbs is particularly suitable for this object. There are some where you can grow Basil, Sage, Mint, Coriander, Marjoram, Parsley and so on, thanks to which you can have always fresh aromatic herbs all year round, always organic, all year round comfortably in the kitchen or wherever you want to place it, given that it is also a design object that could act as a modern art installation in the living room hahaha and I'm not joking: Smart Garden Hydroponic Smart Garden for Aromatic Herbs
