Malagueta Vermelha

The Malagueta Vermelha is a tasty Pepper whose meaning, translated from Portuguese, is Red Chili Pepper, there is a bit of confusion about it because it seems there are various types, but the main ones are two, one with a long berry about 4 or 5 cm and one with smaller pods, about 3 cm, which in Brazil is called Malaguetinha, this one that is on sale would be the smallest one, according to the English Wikipedia, it is the same that in some African countries is called Piri Piri, also there are many variations of the latter. What is certain is that the Pepper for sale here is a magnificent stable plant which will therefore give you exactly what you see in the picture. It is a Capsicum Frutescens that forms a very large and robust plant, with small leaves, with berries about 3 cm long facing upwards and fiery red, it looks a lot like our Calabrian Little Devil aesthetically for the leaf and the pods, but it is definitely bigger and it tastes totally different. It is widespread in Portugal, Brazil and some African countries, for this reason it is known / widespread in Portuguese language.
