Guide Growing Watermelons & Melons

Guide Growing Watermelons & Melons

These simple tips can be considered valid for any type of Watermelon: Giant, Charleston Gray, Carolina Cross, Yellow, SugarBaby and Crimson Sweet and any Melon: Canary Yellow, Green Piel de Sapo or Musked from Morocco, that you can find on my site SemiStrani.it - Sowing can begin in early Spring between March and May. The harvest begins in the month of June and can go up to the months of July and August. The sowing must be done in small pots of about 10 cm, at home to avoid icing that may not cause the Seeds to sprout, in good sowing soil with a little pumice stone. Put a couple of seeds per jar at a depth of about 2 cm, water a little and leave in the shade waiting for the birth of the seedling which will take place in about 5 days. Once the seedlings have developed sufficiently, after about ten days, you can continue with the transplant in full soil. The exposure must be sunny. The plants must be put in the ground with a good distance, in the case of the Melon about one meter from each other, in the case of the giant Watermelon at least 2 meters. Plant in the open field only from late April.
